Backgammon is the oldest known game in recorded history. It has been known as the "little war," backgammon appeared in ancient Iraq about 5 millennia ago. However, Egyptians called backgammon "Senat," which is a similar form of the current game enjoyed right now. Hundreds of years ago, only people of influence, the prevailing figures of royalty like Egyptian pharaohs, were able to enjoy. The game started to expand around the world in time. Numerous Backgammon versions were created in various states and civilizations, but the basic codes of those variants appear that of the archaic form . For instance, Greece grabbed a hold of the game and called it by the title "bac gamen." From there, the English adopted backgammon in the 1600’s and have stuck with it ever since. Backgammon and different archaic games were not ever approved by a number of churches. The religious believe that the game was the work of Beelzebub. This led churches to abolish and destroy the game. The abolishment and burning did not stop many people gambling on games and being entertained.
