The Essential Basics of Backgammon Tactics – Part Two

As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and pure luck. The goal is to move your chips carefully around the board to your home board and at the same time your opposition moves their checkers toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With competing player chips heading in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for particular tactics at specific times. Here are the last 2 Backgammon strategies to round out your game.
The Priming Game Plan
If the goal of the blocking strategy is to hamper the opponents ability to move their chips, the Priming Game tactic is to absolutely barricade any activity of the opposing player by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s checkers will either get bumped, or end up in a bad position if he at all attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anyplace between point two and point eleven in your half of the board. As soon as you’ve successfully assembled the prime to block the activity of your competitor, your competitor does not even get a chance to roll the dice, and you move your pieces and roll the dice yet again. You will be a winner for sure.
The Back Game Plan
The aims of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game technique are similar – to hurt your opponent’s positions with hope to improve your chances of succeeding, but the Back Game tactic uses different techniques to do that. The Back Game tactic is often utilized when you’re far behind your opponent. To play Backgammon with this plan, you have to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This tactic is more complex than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the chips are moved is partially the outcome of the dice toss.
