The Essential Facts of Backgammon Tactics – Part Two

As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of ability and luck. The goal is to shift your checkers carefully around the game board to your inner board and at the same time your opponent moves their checkers toward their home board in the opposite direction. With opposing player chips heading in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for specific strategies at particular times. Here are the last two Backgammon strategies to finish off your game.
The Priming Game Plan
If the purpose of the blocking strategy is to hamper the opponents ability to shift her checkers, the Priming Game plan is to absolutely stop any movement of the opposing player by constructing a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s checkers will either get bumped, or result a bad position if he at all attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be established anyplace between point two and point eleven in your game board. As soon as you’ve successfully built the prime to prevent the movement of your opponent, the opponent doesn’t even get a chance to toss the dice, and you shift your pieces and roll the dice again. You’ll be a winner for sure.
The Back Game Plan
The goals of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game strategy are very similar – to hinder your opponent’s positions with hope to boost your odds of succeeding, but the Back Game technique uses alternate tactics to achieve that. The Back Game tactic is frequently employed when you’re far behind your opponent. To compete in Backgammon with this technique, you have to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This tactic is more challenging than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the chips are relocated is partially the result of the dice toss.
