The Essential Facts of Backgammon Strategies – Part 2
by Caden on October 19th, 2023
As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and luck. The aim is to move your chips safely around the board to your home board while at the same time your opponent shifts their checkers toward their home board in the opposing direction. With opposing player pieces moving in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for particular tactics at particular instances. Here are the two final Backgammon plans to round out your game.
The Priming Game Plan
If the goal of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to shift her pieces, the Priming Game tactic is to completely block any movement of the opponent by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s checkers will either get hit, or result a battered position if she ever attempts to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be built anywhere between point 2 and point eleven in your game board. As soon as you have successfully assembled the prime to prevent the activity of the opponent, the competitor does not even get a chance to roll the dice, and you shift your chips and toss the dice yet again. You will be a winner for sure.
The Back Game Technique
The objectives of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game tactic are very similar – to harm your competitor’s positions with hope to improve your odds of succeeding, but the Back Game plan utilizes seperate tactics to achieve that. The Back Game strategy is often used when you are far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this strategy, you have to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This technique is more difficult than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your checkers and how the checkers are moved is partially the outcome of the dice roll.
