The Essential Basics of Backgammon Strategies – Part Two
by Caden on January 20th, 2025
As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of talent and pure luck. The goal is to move your checkers carefully around the board to your home board while at the same time your opposing player shifts their chips toward their home board in the opposing direction. With opposing player checkers heading in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for specific techniques at particular times. Here are the 2 final Backgammon tactics to complete your game.
The Priming Game Plan
If the purpose of the blocking strategy is to hamper the opponents ability to shift his checkers, the Priming Game strategy is to absolutely barricade any movement of the opposing player by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s chips will either get bumped, or result a damaged position if he/she at all attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be built anyplace between point 2 and point eleven in your board. Once you have successfully constructed the prime to block the movement of the opponent, your competitor does not even get to roll the dice, and you shift your pieces and roll the dice again. You’ll win the game for sure.
The Back Game Technique
The aims of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game technique are very similar – to hurt your opponent’s positions hoping to boost your odds of succeeding, but the Back Game plan uses alternate tactics to do that. The Back Game plan is generally utilized when you’re far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this tactic, you need to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This tactic is more challenging than others to use in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the chips are moved is partially the result of the dice toss.
